Through preserving the unique historic resources of our region, we work to sustain the heritage and the sense of place that is Asheville and Buncombe County.

Your support is essential for the Society to meet historic preservation needs through our advocacy and educational programs, and in providing technical assistance to owners of historic property.

Your support also sustains our Revolving Fund Program, which allows the Society to directly acquire and market endangered buildings.

Volunteers For Preservation

The Society is served by a volunteer Board of Directors, but many more volunteers are needed to operate the Preservation Society and support its mission in the community.

Do you have time and talent to offer? We need you! Please call to let us know when you are available to help. We need volunteers for a variety of different tasks:

Clerical work

Committee membership posts: public relations, hospitality, revolving fund

Historical research

Hospitality Chairman and Assistants -decorate, prepare and present food, and greet visitors for future events.

Parties/Events/Programs

Tour guides and docents
